Abstract: Most ancient pilgrimages from Russia to Palestine. Eu-phrosynia from Polotsk in Byzantium and the Holy Land. «Russian monastery» of Mother of God near Jerusalem is identified with the nunnery of St. Theodosius’ Laura, the first burial place of Euphrosynia. The artefacts of Russian presence in Palestine. «Russian St. Michael monastery» at the Laura of St. Sabbas in the Judean desert. The description of Russian pilgrimages started from Daniel and ended by Basil Poznyakov and Tryphon Korobeynikov. The categories of «holiness» applied to the land (country), city, mountain and island in Russian literature.
